From Shawarma to Shiraz: 5 Must-Try Culinary Hotspots
Broken Arrow, OK, has a delectable collection of unique dining experiences. All ages can chase down their favorite queso, craft beer or shawarma. From national favorites to family-run gems, here are five delicious stops to add to your must-try list.

Broken Arrow Brewing Co.: A chill spot with local flavor
If craft beer is your love language, Broken Arrow Brewing Company should be at the top of your list. Native American-owned and operated, this cozy taproom offers a dozen or so handcrafted beers, an extensive wine selection and an impressive array of non-alcoholic beers and seltzers. While they don’t serve food, guests can order delivery directly to their table.
Broken Arrow Brewing Company is very family and dog friendly. Residing in the original Broken Arrow Ice Plant and Light & Power Company building, the owners have kept the charm of the original brickwork intact. Yet they have created an open-air feel by adding retractable garage doors to a massive outdoor patio and fire pit that is perfect for all seasons.
Check their website or Instagram for events like open mic nights, happy hour specials, trivia, seasonal sports, and holiday parties. Don’t miss the popular Singo Bingo! (music bingo) held every Tuesday night. Head on over!
Waters Edge Winery & Bistro: Sip, savor, repeat!
Broken Arrow diners and imbibers can elevate their dining experience at Waters Edge Winery & Bistro. With an impressive, two-page wine selection, you will surely find the perfect wine to pair with any food and mood. The menu offers unique flavor combinations for flatbreads, sandwiches and burgers. The appetizer menu has wine connoisseur favorites–charcuterie boards, cheese and more cheese. Guests can enjoy Waters Edge in all seasons with indoor and outdoor seating. Watch their Instagram for news or ask about their monthly wine club and special members-only events. Cheers!

Maya Mexican Eatery & Bar: Big flavor in the heart of downtown
Maya Mexican Eatery & Bar recently opened its doors with an invitation to “taste the Mexican culture” in their extensive menu. Check out their Instagram for photos of authentic Mexican dishes and super fun cocktails.
Customers rave about freshly made tortilla chips, delicious queso, exceptional margaritas, affordable lunch options, and big portions. Yelp reviewers also give high marks to Maya’s “very attentive,” “efficient and quick,” and simply “wonderful” service.
Don’t want to cook tonight? The restaurant offers Take-Out Family Packs (think 15-pack of street tacos or enchiladas with all the fixings, rice, and beans for about $30!). Muy bien!
Shawarma Shack: Casual vibes, bold Mediterranean Flavor
Looking for something casual but deliciously different? This family-owned restaurant offers traditional Lebanese street food, like beef or chicken shawarma, slow-roasted to perfection on a vertical rotisserie. The homemade grape leaves and tabbouleh have won customers’ praises, and all menu items can be ordered as a plate or as a wrap.

Dining in at Shawarma Shack is straightforward and unfussy–counter service with meals served on paper plates with plastic utensils. The menu includes a small kids' section plus a few unexpected curveballs like Philly cheesesteaks and burgers. Finally, Shawarma Shack wouldn’t be worth its weight in hummus if it didn’t offer traditional desserts like Baklava and rice pudding. See their Facebook page for photos. Wrap it up, we’re in.
Outback Steakhouse: Familiar favorite, now closer to home
Ok, maybe you’re already familiar with Outback Steakhouse, but this new location in BA’s backyard is fantastic–especially for families! Gluten allergy? No problem, Outback has an enormous gluten-free menu to satisfy all tastes (including desserts!). Hungry/picky/restless kids? Outback has a robust kids’ menu with an entree, side, drink and dessert, with a Summer Mondays Kids Eat Free promotion through September 1 at participating locations. And yes, they have free wifi.
You can also order online for curbside pickup or delivery. Lastly, here’s the cherry on top–ready to dine in? Save time by adding your name to the waitlist via their website before leaving your house. Boom. Dinner, done.
